Good Friday Features: Super Granny 5 and Boonka

First of all, a merry/happy/blessed Good Friday to those of you who celebrate, and a happy Passover to any Jewish friends <3

Today's Friday, which means that it's another favourite feature as well as the Daily Deal, which was a bit surprising!

Remember, the Spring Fever sale is STILL going on until Easter Sunday, so use the coupon code TULIP when you check out with 2 or more games and you'll be filling up that punch card in no time!

Today's Daily Deal is Super Granny 5, which is a cute little arcade game in the Super Granny series.  I've yet to play Super Granny 1 through 4, but after playing this one I just might try!

It's an adorable arcade/puzzle game, featuring sweet little Granny, who's napping on her lawn chair with a family of cats.  However, one of her little kitties is lurking in a basement science lab, plotting Granny's demise!  Granny is zapped with a shrink ray and has to work her way out of the yard to find her kitties and get back to normal.

Gameplay is simple, you navigate the playing field with the arrow keys and the space bar, and you collect all the kitties in the level and return them to the 'Meow' door.  Once every kitty is saved, you make your way to the daisy exit, where Granny is transported back to the yard to go to the next level.  Each level has a little bit of increased difficulty, but each time a new obstacle is presented to you, Granny lets you know how to beat it.

I found this game rather surprising when I played it, since I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did.  I'm sure there will be games I run into that I don't enjoy, but it's a definite good sign when every game I try is a good experience.  It's definitely a casual game, and easy to move away from, so if you're an intensive plot-driven player, this may not be for you.  The graphics are adorable and very smooth, which is definitely a plus.  Still considering purchase since I'm tight on funds, but I'm keeping the demo in my game manager and may use a punch card freebie if I don't catch it today.

Today's personal feature is Boonka, a fascinating match-3 game that caught my attention yesterday when I was taking advantage of the sale.

Boonka is set in a cute little fantasy world, where the colour has been drained away by the Riffraff Skours!  It's up to you and the boonkas to fix things, and restore colour to each piece of the world while the Spirit sleeps.

Gameplay took me a bit to understand, but after I got the hang of it I was pleased.  Drag the boonkas in the playing field to put matching ones side by side.  Then, after you've got say, a row of matched boonkas, pair a couple of Pixie Jars to send it FLYING up and out of the playing area.  Keep doing this until the little tree to the right of the playing field is filled up, and you're set!  Be careful though, if you get too far up the playing field and three black rainclouds appear, you're out of luck.  But you get to try again, so yay!

I LOVED the animation for Boonka.  It reminds me a lot of the vibrant worlds of Super Mario.  The only issue I had with the game is the voice of the big Boonka, which is really grainy and a bit annoying.  It's an easy game to move away from after each level, so definitely good for light casual players.  All in all not a bad game!

That's all for now folks, I'm off to do some studying!  Take care~
